NBA Trade Deadline Recap

Well with the NBA trade deadline coming to an end I thought it would benefit everybody for me to sum up everything thats went down in the past 48 hours.

We saw one of the biggest trades go down in the league since Pau Gasol to LA, Carmelo Anthony along with Chauncey Billups and a few others found themselves in New York uniforms by way of Denver in return for the Knicks young nucleus of Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and back up big man Timofey Mozgov. So far each is team is 1-0 with their newly revamped lineups so we'll see how each fairs by the end of the season. new York also received former Florida Gator Corey Brewer from Minnesota in return for Eddy Cury and Anthony Randolph.

In one of the more surprising moves this week, one of the NBA's top Point Guards in Deron Williams was sent to the New Jersey Nets in return for Devin Harris and Derrick Favors as well as some cash and picks.

Another unexpected trade sent Sonics Thunder forward Jeff Green and center Nenad Krstic to the Boston Celtics for big man Kendrick Perkins and Seattle native Nate Robinson. The Washington Wizards also shook things up a bit by trading guard Kirk Hinrich and forward Hilton Armstrong to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Mike Bibby, Jordan Crawford, Maurice Evans and a 1st-rd pick this summer.

Portland also made a move by acquiring forward Gerald Wallace from Michael Jordan's Bobcats for Joel Przybilla and two future 1st-rd picks. The sorry-looking Cleveland Cavaliers also made a move by trading guard Mo Williams and high flyer Jamario Moon to the LA Clippers for Baron Davis. Sorry Blake.

He spazzed out.

Carmelo Anthony traded to the Knicks

So unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past few months you probably heard the news that Carmelo might be traded to the Knicks, Nets, or even the Lakers at the time. Well finally the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks pulled the trigger on the trade which sent Carmelo along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman to the Knicks in exchange for Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, NY's 2014 first round pick, the GS Warriors' 2012 second round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second round pick and $3 million cash to top it all off.

Do you think this completely shifts the power in the league to the East? Does this make New York the new favorite in the East? Leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

XXL Freshman Class of 2011

So XXL just revealed their freshman class of 2011 and with the exception of a couple artists it's a pretty decent looking class I'd have to say. I'm glad to see names like Cyhi and Big K.R.I.T. made the cut as well as Kendrick Lamar, and although I'm not really a fan of Yelawolf nor Mac Miller they both deserved a spot on the cover as much as anybody else.

As for the others, lets not act like Diggy wasn't an automatic pick I mean come on he's pretty much the rap games little brother. Meek Mill just signed to Rick Ross' Maybach Music so I'm sure some of his hype helped with his selection, and with the West Coast behind him YG was a respectable pick as well.

That leaves us with Fred The Godson, Lil Twist, and of course Lil B. I can't really speak on Fred The Godson because I haven't heard that much of him but from the responses I've seen from people so far I get the feeling that XXL could have gone with somebody better. Lil Twist, I mean come on now what exactly has he done to prove that he deserves a Freshman spot? And then we have Lil B... Outside of OJ Da Juiceman this may be one of the worst selections EVER! Seriously tho this guy is nothing short of a joke. I'm choosing not to voice my own opinion on why he shouldn't have gotten picked and instead I will direct you to one of his many YouTube videos and let you create your own opinion of the guy, go here or here. Hope you got some band-aids for your ears...

At the end of the day I would have liked to see somebody like Chip Tha Ripper or even Smoke DZA make the cut instead of Lil B or Lil Twist but oh well. We'll see who's still relevant in 2012.

Eighty4 Fly - Faded (Official Video)

Here go the latest visuals off of Eighty4 Fly's 1st Class In Fly World mixtape hosted by DJ B-Mello. NBA Dunk Contest 2011 Best Dunks

Although everybody already knew who would come out on top last night it was still a pretty impressive showing by all four dunkers. I personally feel DeMar DeRozan and Serge Ibaka got robbed but oh well, check out some of the best dunks from last nights festivities. Peep the last video as well to see Blake Griffins missed first attempt which I think was one of the most entertaining dunks whether he made it or not.

Air Jordan - Casio G-Shock

Long time Jordan supporter Bun B posted this picture on Twitter just a little while ago and had people going nuts. People didn't know if it was a custom piece or a sneak peek of something to come. Well the Air Jordan Twitter account @Jumpman23 just tweeted a detailed picture showing off not only the blue colorway that Bun showed us but also a Black and Red piece as well. According to them these will only be available at the Culver City Mall Footaction in California for all you lucky people out there for All-Star Weekend.

Stevie Crooks - The W.I.N.E. (Album)

365 days. That's exactly how long it's been since Stevie Crooks blessed us with his last project, Diamonds & Guns. Since then he's been on a hiatus of sorts, a few features here and there but for the most part he's been busy working on The W.I.N.E. or The World Is Not Enough. Stevie told me that this will be "a whole different thing" and that listeners like myself who still bump D&G can expect to be caught off guard in the first 10 minutes. Before you take a listen to The W.I.N.E. you should start by watching the 'Crooklyn' video, because that's where the story begins.
“The World Is Not Enough” is a bold conceptual endeavor that follows Stevie Crooks’ rise from Crooklyn into The world of 007. Showcasing his multiple styles over exceptional James Bond themed production, The W.I.N.E. is epic, classy , adventurous, innovative & creative.

With much anticipation, Stevie Crooks’ follow-up project foregoing his 2010 release, Diamonds&Guns, is finally here. February 18, 2011 marks a day of constant evolution for the young artist. The WINE (The World Is Not Enough) is a continuation off of the James Bond film, Diamonds&Guns. Stevie Crooks places another mask within his hand inspired by Sean Connery and is soon to provide the world with an evolving sound.

Wiz Khalifa - Cabin Fever (Mixtape)

Well this is pretty unexpected, nearly a year after he let loose the title track Wiz decided to release the entire Cabin Fever mixtape. This is the first project from Wiz since Kush & Orange Juice dropped last April. Although its only 9 tracks it should be enough to occupy you until his album Rolling Papers drops March 29th. Featuring appearances by Juicy J, Big Sean, Chevy Woods & Trae Tha Truth as well as Lex Luger for production. Download link below.

Happy Birthday Michael Jeffrey Jordan

This day (Feb. 17th) marks the 48th anniversary of the birth of arguably the greatest athlete of all time. There's really no need on educating any of you on MJ I would hope, basically if you for some reason aren't aware of his success or the obstacles he's had to overcome to achieve what he has then you're reading the wrong blog lol. Lets just hope all this talk about another NBA comeback is a joke.

Wtf

I understand people and their liking for yellowed soles or netting on certain Air Jordans, but with the exception of those I just don't see why anybody would want a pair of shoes that are already yellowed & weathered down before you even wear them!

Justis VS Language Arts 10/28 (Video)

Back in October of 2010 Seattle held it's first ever Sneaker Expo @ Nectar Lounge, however the spotlight was mostly on the music that night. Pac Div was in the house as well as Logics, Clemm Rishad and some other local talents, but the freestyle battles may have taken the crown for entertainment that night, shouts to GTNW President Illmaculate for stopping by as well. So after a few prelim rounds, locals Language Arts and Justis found themselves in the championship round and in the end it was Language Arts who took the W. Peep the video above and lemme know what you think, La or Justis?

Nike SB Dunk High - 'Seahawks"

Here is something I know all my fellow Washingtonians will appreciate. Nike SB is gearing up to release a Quickstrike SB Dunk High in a Seattle Seahawks colorway which will be limited to SB accounts in the Seattle area. If you know me then you should know that I'm not much of a Seahawk fan with the exception of a few players, but I could see myself wearing a pair of these... just as long as Nike SB doesn't put a Seahawk logo anywhere on them lol. Stay tuned for more info including release dates.
