Superb Winter 2010 Lookbook

Progression. That is just one of the traits you need to have as a clothing brand, it may actually be the most important one especially in todays fluxuating market. This is the case with the fam over at Superb. I've been following them for a while now, in fact around this time last year I was posting their 'Lords of War' winter drop. I'm really liking what I'm seeing from them lately and it looks like they're headed in the right direction. This time around, their winter collection takes on a more aggressive approach with minimal aesthetics featuring mainly fleece items, perfect for this cold winter.

The entire collection is available on their online shop as well as a long list of retailers you can check out here. Hit the jump for more pics.

Now this is love. Peep the video above for a 360 degree view of this incredible Nike Air Jordan collection consisting of at least 360 pairs.

Quiksilver (Japan) x Jay Kin

This is pretty dope, surfing company Quiksilver featured VanCity's own Jay Kin in their latest promo video for their documentary film. The video features a cameo by Norifumi "KID" Yamamoto, a popular Japanese MMA fighter and also provides the viewer with a good look at Quiksilver's latest apparel collection set in Tokyo. Jay Kin's song 'Nippon' can be heard throughout the entire promo video.

Logics - Progression (Videos)

Progression 1:

Progression is a video about Logics and The Chapter/Alumni camp on their random experiences in Vegas. Some serious and seriously funny. The performances include the Dunk Xchange (Las Vegas) and Hard Line @Wasted Space w/ Deans List band. The video marks the progression and fun they did have admist of all the struggle of things that didn't go as planned. Enjoy

Mic Phenom - Suicide Note

If you're a follower of Grind Time then you should be familiar with the name Mic Phenom, you may have recently seen his battle with Kristylez out in Hawaii in which Mic pretty much demolished son to put it lightly... But to the point of this post, it isn't the kind of song you would expect to drop on Christmas day but homie had some stuff to get off his chest. Peep the download link after the jump.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - My Oh My!

Great tribute to an even greater person. RIP Dave Niehaus.
Dave Niehaus was not only the voice of the Seattle Mariners, he was the voice of my childhood. Some of my most prized memories, growing up as a kid, are accompanied with his voice narrating the moment. He was more than just another radio announcer. His on-air personality was so genuine, that you had a sense of who the man was and what he stood for, by simply listening to him call a game.

I understand that many people might not know Dave Niehaus. A large portion of my fan base either lives outside of the Northwest, are too young to have listened to him, or just not a fan of baseball. I get it. But I believe that as musicians, it’s our responsibility to pay homage to the people that made us who we are. For me, Niehaus was an imperative part of not only my upbringing, but of Seattle’s unique history and culture. From his signature “My oh my” catch phrase, to the heart and passion that exuded from the radio, his presence will be greatly missed in the Northwest. And for those of you outside of the area, hopefully you’ll listen and get a glimpse of not only a Town legend, but one of the greatest announcers to ever have ever called a game.

Lockcity - Purple Palm Trees (Mixtape)

I'm a bit late on this post but here goes something new from Northwest local Lockcity.
Long time Upper-Left coast MC “Lockcity” aka. Leon Swanks has just finished and released his second solo project in just under a year.

This occasion is different from the return of the classy alias LeonSwanks. He sets the scene by entitling this release Purple Palm Trees and an extensive introduction track. Although LeonSwanks himself refers to the project as a mix-tape; the final product is much more parallel with an album. The entire tape effort is choreographed sound splash from the youthful, talented, budding super-producer KhrisPKream (one half of the production crew KreamTeam).

Right from the beginning Leon and Khris give you sounds of the ocean and playful drums to prepare you for a 60 min resort to the “Palms”. A majority of the tracklist keeps a lively, party appropriate bounce, coupled wit Leon’s monotone rap style and easy rolling cadence construction - great times. The verses themselves seem effortless in cahoots with the custom production, but they remain layered and complex if you listen closely.

There is a heavy motif - embodying luxury and craftsmanship. Definitely one to take on the road trip/vacation.

Another weekend past and another trip down to Oregon, this time for the Fabolous & Logics show at the Oregon Convention Center. Urban Meyer steps down as Florida Football coach

Funny this happens just days after Tebow's head coach Josh McDaniels was relieved of his duties out in Denver...I was hoping for Cowher in Denver next season but being the Florida fan that I am I also wouldn't be against hiring Meyer.

Smokers Club Tour West Coast Trip Seattle/Portland

So this past weekend the Northwest was lucky enough to host two of the stops on the Smokers Club Tour, a lineup consisting of three arguable headlining acts including Curren$y, Nipsey Hu$$le, & Dom Kennedy. Fiend, Cornerboy P, Smoke DZA & even Strong Arm Steady were in attendance. I was lucky enough to go to both the Seattle & Portland shows at Neumos and the Roseland Theater respectively thanks to the homie Logics. Not only that but I was also able to get some dope shots from both shows as well as some extras from my stop in Oregon.

While I was in Portland for the day I also got to stop by one of the more doper boutiques that I've been too. They go by the name of Compound, and I honestly couldn't think of a better name for this place than that. Upon entry of the place you immediately see a showcase full of rare sneakers including a couple of crazy Sole Collector & Nike collabs that most people will never even get to see in person.

Sole Collector x Nike Air Penny 2

Sole Collector x Nike Air Max Trainer 1

When I said that Compound was a perfect name for this place I wasn't lying, not only do they have a nice selection of gear as well as a pretty wide selection of collectible toys there but just up the staircase you will find yourself an art gallery with lots of dope pieces and some crazy lil gadgets.
